Best Podcast Hosting Platforms 2026: 16 Hosts, Prices Compared

A podcast host stores your episodes and publishes the RSS feed that Apple Podcasts, Spotify and every other app reads. We compared 16 hosts on what they actually charge, whether you can start free, and who each one suits. Every price below was checked on the host's own pricing page, and no host paid to be on this page or for its position.

Key Differentiator

Built around a newsletter: episodes, emails, a website and paid subscriptions sit in one place.

What a podcast host does

A podcast host stores your audio (and, more and more, video) files and publishes your RSS feed: the address that Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music and every other app read to show your episodes. It is specialised hosting, built to serve large media files to many listeners at once, which ordinary website hosting is not.

Most hosts also give you download statistics, a simple website and an embeddable player, and submit your show to the main directories for you. The feed belongs to you, which is why you can move to another host later without losing your listeners.

How hosts charge: hours, downloads, bandwidth or features

The headline price matters less than what the bill is tied to. Buzzsprout, Libsyn and Blubrry charge by how many hours you upload or publish each month, so your cost depends on how much you make, not how many people listen. A show that suddenly takes off pays the same.

Transistor, Captivate and Simplecast charge by monthly downloads, with unlimited uploads. That suits shows that publish a lot for a modest audience, and the bill rises as the audience grows. Neither Transistor nor Captivate cuts a show off for going over; both ask you to move up a plan if it keeps happening.

Fireside charges by bandwidth, and Castos, RSS.com, RedCircle and Ausha mostly charge by features such as transcripts, team seats, private listeners, video or promotion tools. Most hosts charge less if you pay for a year: Podbean's Unlimited Audio drops from $17 to $12 a month, and Acast's Essential from $25 to $14.99. Libsyn and Spreaker bill monthly only.

Free or paid hosting?

Free plans are real, but each has a catch. Buzzsprout's free plan removes episodes after 90 days, so it is for trying the service, not for running a show. Acast's free plan stops at five episodes unless the show joins its ad marketplace. Spreaker and RedCircle allow one podcast on their free plans. RSS.com and Spotify for Creators are the free plans you can run a show on indefinitely.

Paying gets you more shows and team seats, deeper statistics, ad insertion across your back catalogue, private feeds and faster support. The cheapest paid plans here are Blubrry at $7, Libsyn at $8 and Fireside at $9 a month; the hosts most podcasters shortlist charge $15 to $20.

A sensible rule: start free or on a trial while you find out whether you will publish every week. Move to a paid plan when you need a feature, such as video, ad insertion or a second show, not before.

Which host fits your show

First show: Buzzsprout, for the guided setup, or RSS.com if you want to stay free for longer. Several shows or a company podcast: Transistor, where every plan includes unlimited podcasts and team members. A show you expect to grow: Captivate for its full feature set on every plan, or Libsyn if you would rather pay by upload hours than by audience.

A WordPress site: Castos (Seriously Simple Podcasting) or Blubrry (PowerPress). A show that also runs a newsletter: beehiiv, which keeps both in one account, or Ausha, which emails new episodes to listeners. Earning from ads early: Acast, RedCircle or Spreaker, all of which can run ads on a free plan. Video: Buzzsprout's Audio + Video plan, Podbean from Unlimited Plus, RSS.com's Max plan and Acast's Video plan all publish video; Spotify for Creators plays video natively on Spotify.

How to switch hosts without losing listeners

Your listeners follow your RSS feed, not your host. To move, sign up with the new host and import your episodes (Castos and Ausha, among others, migrate shows for free), then set a permanent redirect from your old feed address to the new one in the old host's settings.

Apple Podcasts, Spotify and the other apps pick up the redirect and move your subscribers automatically, usually within a few days. Keep the old account open until you have checked that new episodes appear everywhere; cancelling before the redirect is live is how shows lose listeners.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best podcast hosting platform for beginners?↓

Buzzsprout, for its guided setup and a free plan to learn on (2 hours of uploads a month, with episodes kept for 90 days). Its Audio plan is $18 a month, or $15 billed yearly. If you want to stay free for longer, RSS.com's free plan keeps unlimited episodes with no deletion.

How much does podcast hosting cost?↓

You can host for free on Spotify for Creators, RSS.com, RedCircle, Spreaker, Podbean, Acast or beehiiv, each with its own limits. The cheapest paid plans are Blubrry at $7, Libsyn at $8 and Fireside at $9 a month. Popular hosts such as Buzzsprout, Transistor, Captivate and Castos start at $18 to $19 a month, and most are cheaper if you pay for a year.

What is the best free podcast hosting?↓

RSS.com for a show you want to keep independent: unlimited episodes and audio, never deleted, with a website and player. Spotify for Creators is free and unlimited too, with video on Spotify. RedCircle's free plan has no caps and can earn from ads, but allows one podcast.

Which podcast host is best for multiple shows?↓

Transistor includes unlimited podcasts and unlimited team members on every plan, from $19 a month. Captivate and Castos also include unlimited podcasts on every plan. Buzzsprout's Multi-Podcast plans cover up to 5 or 10 shows, and Blubrry allows one show per subscription below its Pro plan.

Which podcast hosts support video?↓

Buzzsprout's Audio + Video plan ($30 a month) publishes video to Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube. Podbean supports video from Unlimited Plus ($39), RSS.com on Max ($49.99), Acast on its Video plan ($50) and Castos on Pro ($99). Spotify for Creators hosts video for free and plays it on Spotify.

Should I pick a host that charges by downloads or by upload hours?↓

If you publish a lot and expect a modest audience, download-based plans such as Transistor and Captivate give you unlimited uploads. If you expect a large or fast-growing audience, hour-based plans such as Libsyn, Buzzsprout and Blubrry keep the price flat however many people listen.

Can I switch podcast hosts without losing subscribers?↓

Yes. Import your episodes to the new host, then set a permanent redirect from your old RSS feed to the new one. Podcast apps follow the redirect and move your subscribers automatically. Keep the old account open until new episodes show up everywhere.

What does IAB-certified analytics mean?↓

It means a host counts downloads by the Interactive Advertising Bureau's standard, filtering out bots and repeat requests, so advertisers can trust the numbers. Libsyn says its analytics are IAB verified on every plan, and Blubrry offers IAB-certified statistics on its Advanced plans. If you plan to sell ads, check the pricing page of any host you shortlist.

Is Spotify for Creators the same as Anchor?↓

Yes. Anchor became Spotify for Podcasters and is now Spotify for Creators. It is free, with unlimited audio and video hosting, and eligible shows in select markets can earn through the Spotify Partner Program.

Do I need a podcast host, or can I host the files myself?↓

You can publish your own RSS feed and files from your own server, but a host handles the bandwidth when episodes spike, the directory submissions, the statistics and the feed format for you. With free plans available, self-hosting rarely saves enough to be worth the work.

Do you earn money from the links on this page?↓

Sometimes. Some of the "Visit website" links are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you sign up, at no extra cost to you. No host pays to be listed or for its position, and commission does not change the order of the hosts or what we write about them. Every price is read from the host's own pricing page.
