Transcrybr

Transcrybr is a mobile application for iOS that provides offline automatic speech recognition and dictation. It converts spoken audio into text in real time as users speak, and also allows users to upload existing audio files for transcription processing. The app is aimed at individuals who need to transcribe audio to text, such as podcasters, without requiring an internet connection.

The app stores and encrypts recordings and transcripts, syncing them via iCloud so they are accessible across a user's Apple devices. Additional features include real-time feedback on speaking pace, synchronized word highlighting during playback, and support for pairing with Bluetooth-enabled microphones and headphones. Completed transcriptions and associated audio files can be exported in .m4a format to a location of the user's choosing.

Transcrybr was launched in September 2020 by an independent developer and has continued to receive incremental updates, including a 2023 release adding iCloud sync. It operates as a single-developer side project rather than a large company, generating modest recurring revenue.
