Podlove Podcast Publisher

Podlove Podcast Publisher is a WordPress plugin that provides podcast publishing and management tools for podcasters. Built on the WordPress platform, it manages the full publication workflow, including feed generation, multi-format audio and video publishing, and episode metadata handling. The plugin is developed by the Podlove project, which started the Publisher in 2012 as an alternative to existing publishing solutions it considered outdated and complex.

The software is free and open source, released under the MIT license with code shared on GitHub, and it is self-hosted, meaning podcasters run it on their own WordPress installations and retain control of their audio files, metadata, and statistics. It includes an integrated Podlove Web Player with support for transcripts that synchronize with playback and allow listeners to search and jump to specific points in an episode. The plugin also offers an Analytics module that reports listener numbers, episode popularity, client usage, and audio format preferences without storing personal listener data, in line with GDPR requirements.

Podlove Podcast Publisher serves podcasters and podcast producers who want to self-host their shows on WordPress while maintaining compatible, feature-rich RSS feeds. It supports fine-grained control over feed behavior, such as GUID management for replacing episodes, and allows publishers to create multiple feeds for different audiences or use cases through file naming conventions.
