About Futuro Studios
Futuro Studios is the creative division of Futuro Media, a Latina-led independent nonprofit newsroom. The editorial team is led by Peabody Award-winning journalist Marlon Bishop, while Julio Ricardo Varela heads the business operations.
The studio produces narrative podcasts that explore Latino and Puerto Rican experiences through storytelling and investigative journalism. Notable productions include "La Brega," which examines Puerto Rican culture and history through music and stories, available in both English and Spanish. Other series include "Suave," which tells the story of juvenile life sentences and second chances, and "La última copa/The Last Cup," following Lionel Messi's final World Cup journey.
Futuro Studios collaborates with established networks like WNYC Studios to create content that reflects diverse perspectives and untold stories. The organization operates as part of Futuro Media Group's broader mission to provide independent journalism and media representation for Latino communities.
